The following cardio and strength workout is designed to take you to the limit by moving from one exercise to the next without stopping. However, they are not intended for the novice.
Aerobic Workouts
Aerobic workouts are essentially low intensity exercises that use only oxygen to meet the body’s energy demands for the routines that transform carbohydrates into energy.
The word “aerobics” literally translated from the Greek means “living on air”. Examples of aerobic exercises are long distance running, jogging, cycling, Nordic walking, swimming, or skipping. In contrast anaerobic workouts are high intensity exercises that use burst of energy, such as sprinting, strength training, push ups and other short term “muscle twitch” routines that are energy intensive.
Oxygen intake cannot keep up with the energy demands of such short burst, high energy routines, as a result the body rapidly uses up glucose as fuel and lactic acid accumulates in the blood. The higher the level , the more fatigue is experienced.
The pros and cons of aerobic workouts with examples of beneficial routines are discussed in these articles.
